HIV infection can be transferred through all types of unprotected sexual intercourses with an infected person (without a condom): anal, vaginal and oral. The risk is greatest with unprotected anal sexual intercourse. This also applies to the use of condoms, because anal intercourse brings a greater risk of damaging a condom. The risk is also great with unprotected vaginal sexual intercourse. Unprotected oral intercourse is least risky, but still risky when the mucous membrane in the mouth or throat is wounded (e.g. with bleeding gums, ulcers and throat infections). So always use a condom. You will be safer if you limit yourself to sexual practices such as petting, massage and masturbation, so as to prevent the contact of sexual secretions with your mucous membranes or potentially wounded skin. Kissing without a major exchange of saliva which may contain blood is also relatively safe. I have not yet had sexual intercourse. When is the right time? |
