How to use a condom properly?
|
Consistent and proper use of a condom greatly reduces the possibility of contracting any STDs.
- A condom must be vacuum packed, electronically tested and have the expiration date shown.
- Always use a new condom for each sexual intercourse.
- Use latex condoms lubricated with silicone or water-based lubricant.
- If you want additional lubrication, use only water-based lubricants and not oil-based ones (e.g.: Vaseline, different oils and creams) which can damage latex.
- A latex condom can protect you efficiently if used correctly and if it is not damaged (e.g.: if it is not burst).
- Put on a condom when the male sexual organ (penis) is erect. Be careful to leave some room at the tip of the condom. This is done by holding the tip of the condom with the thumb and index finger of one hand, and rolling the condom down the penis with the other.
- For maximum protection, the condom must be put on the penis before any contact with the vagina, anus or mouth.
- After orgasm and ejaculation withdraw the penis immediately, holding the rim of the condom so as to prevent semen from spilling.
