Herpes simplex virus 2 (especially on the genitals and anus) and herpes simplex 1 (especially on the lips and in the mouth) are the most common causes of sores and small wounds on the genitals and anus. HSV 2 and HSV 1 may cause the occurrence of tiny blisters with transparent liquid on the genitals and anus. The blisters are often preceded by a prickling sensation and possibly slightly reddened skin. The blisters burst in a few days, resulting in cracks and scabs. Patients may also suffer from higher temperature and pain in the diseased part; inguinal glands may be swollen etc. Three to nine days may pass from sexual contact to the occurrence of the disease. The appearance of diseased skin near the anal opening may be very untypical, so you must tell your physician if you had anal sexual intercourse or if your partner kissed your rectum, or you may be given the wrong medication (a yeast ointment, a corticosteroid ointment or even an ointment against haemorrhoids). In rare cases, severe inflammation of the rectal mucous membrane may develop, its symptoms being pain, discharge and flatulence, problems in passing faeces or water etc. You must be aware that the virus remains in the body even after the problems have ceased. Appropriate medications may slow down repeated outbreaks of the disease and alleviate the problems if blisters reappear. |
